Chapter 1

Authors note: as the title and summary say, Andy meets Sam before she joins 15 but has a secret, what is it? :) let me know what you guys think :) this is just a short starting chapter, the next ones should be longer :) enjoy!

"Dad, I'll be back soon ok?" Andy called to her dad as she pulled on her boots. "I've just got to grab a few things in town, I'll be as quick as I can."

Andy was heading down the street, looking down at her phone, when she walked straight in to Sam who was heading into the coffee shop.

"Oh my goodness! I am so sorry!" Andy says, stepping back quickly and almost falling backwards.

"It's ok." Sam replies grabbing on to her elbows gently to stop her falling.

"I am so so sorry!"

"It's fine, honestly, are you ok?"

"Me? Yeah, yes I'm fine. Thank you for catching me officer."

"No problem miss..."

"McNally." Andy fills in shaking Sam's hand. "Well thanks again and again, I'm sorry." She says as she walks backwards down the street.

"Careful!" Sam calls after her, smiling to himself.

"We have got to stop meeting like this McNally." Sam exclaims as Andy quickly dodges Sam after almost bumping in to him again.

"I know! I'm sorry. Wait, you remembered my surname." Andy replies

"I'm pretty good with names McNally. And you don't need to apologise. I don't feel like I introduced myself properly. Sam." He says sticking his hand out to Andy.

"Andy." She replies, smiling and shaking his hand.

"You want to grab a coffee?"

"Uh..sure." Andy says, following Sam down the street. "So you're a police officer?" Sam nods. "Out of what division?"

"15." Sam replies. "What about you? What do you do I mean?"

"I'm actually training to be a police officer, I'm at the academy."

"Oh really? Fancy that. What division are they looking at placing you in when you leave?"

"15 division actually."

"Yeah?" Andy nods and thanks Sam as he holds the door open for her. "Well then we're going to be seeing a lot more of each other then." Andy nods and smiles.

"I guess so."

An hour later, Sam announced that he had to get going.

"Can I uh..get your number?" Sam asks

"Well...sure...I mean, yeah, of course." Andy replies and gets her phone out of her bag. "I've got to get going too, I've uh...got some errands to run. But thank you for the coffee."

"No problem. I'll text you later." Sam replies, watching as Andy made her way back down the road.

When Andy reached her house after running her errands, she had a text from Sam.

Friday night at 8? Andy smiled to herself, and quickly typed a reply.

Sounds good? Where? Sam quickly replied with a restaurant down town.

"I met someone today." Andy tells Traci, who had come over with Leo for dinner.

"Really? Traci asks and Andy nods, smiling to herself, which Traci catches out of the corner of her eye.

"Yep, his names Sam. I bumped in to him twice and he bought me coffee, we talked and he seems like a really nice guy." Andy replies tossing the salad for dinner. "He's a police officer, out of 15 division."

"Andy." Traci sighs. Although she was happy that Andy was happy, she was a little wary that Sam was also an officer out of 15. "What if you get placed there?"

"We'll come to that if it gets to it. I don't even know if it will work out yet, I mean, I haven't been on a date for over three years now, not since I broke up with Jake."

"Hmm...ok...well, we'll see." Traci replies smiling at Andy who turned and grinned at her best friend. "And you're happy?"

"Couldn't be happier."

"Good." She says giving Andy a quick side hug.

"Yep! And he's already asked me on a date."

"No way! He's keen huh?"

"I guess so..."

"Have you uh...have you told him yet?"

"No." Andy says quickly. "Not yet. Not for a while. We'll see how it goes first."
