Author's Note: I decided to give the time directly after Mockingjay some much needed attention. Both Peeta and Katniss try to deal with their emotions. Some intense moments.

Love

Katniss' POV

Peeta was having a hard time. He had locked himself in the bathroom ages ago.

I thought perhaps I could make food for once.

Some squirrel and vegetable soup. It couldn't be that difficult. Not really.

The carrots were the first to go under the knife.

Thwack. Thwack. Thwack.

I heard a chuckle from behind me. I continued to chop, repressing my own frustration.

A fresh sliver of carrot darted off the counter unannounced.

Sigh.

A warm body wrapped itself around me from behind.

Another Sigh.

"Try it like this, you don't want to lose a finger."

Amusement tinged the tender voice.

He gently took my hands in his own.

"You don't have to help me Peeta, I'm doing this for you."

He guided the knife flawlessly.

Swish. Swish. Swish.

"I like to help," he mused kindly in my ear.

I felt my cheeks flush.

"I know," I said softly.

He kissed the nape of my neck and folded his arms around my waist.

"I miss you," he whispered slowly.

"I know," I said again, "I know."

This is the first of many short clips in the lives of two very distraught people. Please review and let me know what you think. Thank you so much :)
