Summary: Major Marcus Lorne learns to expect the unexpected.
A/N: A really short story that wouldn't leave my head, staring our favourite Major. Tell me what you think. Also I need a beta for another chapter/story so anyone interested please PM, review, email etc. Thanks
Upon being told of the Stargate Program, Marcus Lorne nearly burst out in laughter, alien worlds; a portal to other places in the Galaxy just couldn't be real. He changed his mind, the first time he saw the gate in action.
Upon hearing of the US Government trying to build interstellar aircrafts, Marc just shook his head and kept on checking the inventory. He believed it, when he was stuck on P3X - 403, mining Naqahdah for 3months for said space ships.
Upon hearing of intelligent beings on other planets, a Unas just didn't seem that intelligent to Marcus. He quickly changed his mind when Dr Jackson negotiated a peace truce with them in a couple of days.
Upon hearing about the Ancient Outpost in Antarctica, Marcus Lorne didn't really think too much of it, that was more SG:1's field then his. After Anubis attacked Earth for control of the outpost, Marcus swore never to think that anything to do with the SGC would never affect his life.
Upon learning of the expedition to Atlantis in the Pegasus Galaxy, Major Lorne wished them all luck and hoped they'd keep out of trouble. When the first transmission from Atlantis came through he just shook his head and got ready for his mission to P3x – 807.
Upon learning that Atlantis Military were allowed to refuse their posts, he didn't believe it – a soldier's job is to follow the orders of your commanding officer. He understood why, when he was offered the position of 2IC to Sheppard of Atlantis Military.
So it really was no surprise to Lorne, when he arrived in Atlantis to find it completely different to everything he expected. What did surprise him was that his first mission was babysitting two very annoying scientists. After that, he very quickly learnt to expect the unexpected, and everything is never as it seems. Although, sometimes, only sometimes, things still manage to surprise him, not that he would ever admit it to anyone. He suspected no-one would, even if every now and then, the expected actually did happen.
