Heroes
Volume 6- Brave New World
Claire stood up and popped her arm back into place, not even grimacing. She did it like she had done it several times before, not feeling the pain that most people would feel. Memories began to flood back to freshmen year of high school when she jumped off the water tower in Odessa, Texas, she had popped her shoulder back into place there, but she felt pain that time. She didn't feel the pain this time. The cut on her face healed as fast as she placed her arm back into place. That didn't faze her as well.
The lights of the Ferris wheel behind her didn't faze Claire as well. She was staring intently into the cameras and into the faces of the press in front of her. The look on her uncle and father's face didn't faze her as well. She knew she was different, unlike the people around her. The words that she uttered from her mouth came with familiarity but where somewhat different.
."My name is Claire Bennet and this attempt number… well I guess I've kind of lost count." Claire stated as she smiled slyly into the presses camera.
The cameras pressed closer on Claire Bennet, they were amazed that this young woman didn't die as the questions begin to over flow Claire. Flashes of cameras came closer to Claire's young face. In the background, the glaring looks of her father and uncle begin to frustrate her. Claire knew that her and others like her can and will live in the open without others fearing them. There were several others around people that were like her. Samuel had the same idea; he was just going about it the wrong way. He wanted to kill several if not thousands of innocent people. Claire didn't want to kill people, she wanted people to know that people like her were not as bad as everyone thought they were. There were good people that shared the same ideas as Claire.
Noah looked at Claire with disgust. He thought to himself that she had opened the proverbial can of worms and there was nothing that he could do about it. The thought of people like Emile Danko, could come after her, began to flood his mind. She thought that she was invincible, a thought that could be proved wrong by doing the very act that she had just did.
