Albert should've known better.

If he had had any sense at all, he would've picked up on Francoise's not so subtle hints and escaped while he had the chance.

But he hadn't, and now he was going to pay for it.

Jet ladled the soup into his bowl. "This took me hours to figure out how to make, so you better like it, Heinrich."

Dearly.

Albert tried not to stare at the mess in front of him. "Maybe we should let it cool?" he suggested helpfully.

"You're supposed to eat it hot."

There was no way he was going to get out of this. Albert forced his hand to be steady and took a tentative sip.

"Well?" Jet wasn't very good at hiding the hopefulness in his voice. "Is it good?"

"Actually... yes." He was as pleasantly surprised as Jet was. "It's very good."

And then he fainted dead away.
