Happy Birthday Boss: It was more than he ever expected from his youngest agent. Gibbs/McGee pre-slash.

It had been a long hard day for Leroy Jethro Gibbs. He'd volunteered with Abby for Habitat for Humanity on one of the few weekends he had off—the weekend that just happened to be his birthday. He was tired, sore, and quite possibly a little sunburned and all he wanted to do was shower and head down to his basement for some bourbon and a little time with his newest projects: a deep mahogany desk for Tim, a light maple entertainment center for Tony, and an oak bookcase for Ziva.

He immediately knew something was different when he opened the door to his house…not necessarily wrong but different. Following his gut he walked slowly inside the house. As he entered the hallway he didn't notice anything different but that opinion changed when he entered the den. Mounted on the wall was a new television…it looked to be one of those hi-def plasma things. On the new shelf mounted next to it was a fancy disk player and going closer he could see that it played blu-ray disks. He turned to find a small wrapped package and an envelope. He picked up both and sat down on the couch.

He found the wrapped package to be the blu-ray edition of his favorite movie—Harrison Ford's Air Force One. Smiling he placed it back on the table next to the two new remotes and opened the envelope. Inside was a card that read Happy Birthday! on the outside. Inside though he found that the inside cover had been filled with his youngest agent's handwriting.

Dear Boss,

I knew your birthday was coming up and I wanted to do something really special for you. I remember Tony once telling me that you kept referencing the movie Air Force One when you two first met Kate. So when I was looking for a birthday present for you I was hoping I could find it…and I did…but only in blu-ray. So since I've never really given you a present before this I decided that buying you a new TV and blu-ray player and hooking them up could (hopefully) make up for six years of no presents.

I was thrilled when Abby told me you had volunteered to help today. It meant that I'd be able to get in and put everything together without you knowing. I hope you don't think that it's too much, Boss. It's just that you've done so much for me over the years that I wanted to do something really nice for you. You are honestly the best boss that a seasick, green, shy, computer geek probie could ask for.

So Happy Birthday, and Thank You Boss,

Timothy "Probie/Elflord/Thom E. Gemcity" McGee

Gibbs smiled. This was the best birthday present he could have gotten. He'd never questioned Tim about why the young man only gave him a card since he'd joined the team. Tony had always given him the perfunctory bottle of bourbon in private and the past two years Ziva had given him novels about the old west. At first he'd figured that Tim didn't get him anything because he was...a little scared of him to be frank and then because he just didn't know what to get him. But what was now in front of him was more than he'd ever expected from his youngest agent.

He returned the card and the movie to the table in front of him. He wouldn't watch it just yet. He'd invite McGee over during the week and they could enjoy his favorite movie together…just the two of them.

There is a multi-chapter sequel in the works!
