Valentine's Day
Summary: Yachiru was all Kenpachi needed. Not romance, strong father/daughter, this is also based after a picture I saw once while browsing Google images.
It was a free day in Seireitei for Valentine's day. Everyone who had one was spending time with their lovers, from Kensei and Hisagi to Byakuya and his wife's grave.
Sitting in the gardens for the eleventh division was Kenpachi Zaraki, leaning against an oak tree, watching his daughter. Yachiru was sitting near the pond, watching the koi fish while eating from a mountain of dango, konpeito, and daifuku mochi. The dango and konpeito were from Ikkaku and Yumichika, who just left for a date, and the daifuku, her favorite strawberry, were from Kenny.
Happily eating a daifuku, Yachiru happened to notice a flower; it was bright pink with a black eye center. It was swaying gently in the wind and it instantly made her think of her Kenny. When Kenny showed his true self, he was the most beautiful flower she'd ever seen.
Yachiru remembered everything about the day she met Kenny, even the number of clouds there were in the sky. What Yachiru remembered most though, was the happiness that had shown through his rock solid eyes; the first time she'd ever seen such an emotion. Yachiru knew that she was the only to see such a sight, let alone had it aimed at her, and it always warmed her heart to know.
Yachiru silently wondered: What would it take to see that look of pure adoration again?
Kenpachi was silent, lost in his thoughts as the wind blew his loose hair into his face. Valentine's Day always got him thinking about stupid, mushy stuff that he couldn't get rid of no matter what he tried.
Kenpachi couldn't deny that he wanted someone to love by his side but he had come to terms that that wouldn't happen at random. Kenpachi usually didn't mind the fact but seeing everyone today always got him thinking.
Suddenly, a flower was under his nose, breaking his thoughts. He tried to move away in time but it was too late as he turned his head and sneezed.
Yachiru laughed, still holding the flower out. "Bless you Kenny!" she said.
Kenpachi snorted, blowing the pollen away. "Dammit Yachiru! What was that for?!" he demanded, not really angry.
Yachiru smiled. "Happy Valentine's Day Kenny! I love you!" she beamed.
Kenpachi paused, his eyes taking in his daughter and the flower. He smiled softly, taking the flower from her gently.
"Thanks 'Chiru," he murmured, sniffing the flower (carefully!).
Yachiru giggled, throwing her arms around his neck. "Welcome Kenny!" she replied happily and pecked his cheek.
Kenpachi let it slide this time, he was happy. Kenpachi hugged her back tightly, silently telling her everything she needed to know.
"Love you too 'Chiru," he finally said.
"Always?" Yachiru asked, though she knew the answer.
"Always."
She knew now. She didn't have to work too hard.
End.

I think I accidently went into romance territory, but that isn't what it is! That's icky! If anything, 'Chiru goes to Toshiro or Hanatarou!
