Glenn stared out his front window in confusion. Who were these people, all dressed in black? He was sure that Halloween wouldn't be around for at least another two months, maybe they were attending a costume party. A themed one, judging by the matching white masks and long hooded robes. And why were they carrying twigs?
Unfortunately for him, Glenn wouldn't be able to ponder such things for long. The large cluster of supposed costumed revelers took one look at him, which seemed to last an eternity. Those masks were really starting to creep him out. Was it some sort of spontaneous drama performance? As the group neared his front door, sticks held out threateningly out in front of them, Glenn decided he didn't want to find out. He turned from the window and dashed through the narrow hallway leading to the back of his house. Were they here to hurt him? If so, he'd climb through the window in his room.
Stumbling through the doorway, Glenn soon found himself face to face with one of them. He squeaked in fright and toppled to the floor. In mere moments he felt more pain than he'd ever encountered in his entire life - he screamed. Mercifully, it only lasted for a few moments before the world went black.
It's not much of a first chapter, but it's just the beginning...
While I'm taking a break from my main HP stories, I'm going to focus a bit on other genres. This one will be the exception, though (apart from my Huff fic, and other small stories). Basically, I've become interested in SYOC works and would like to experiment some more with them. Since I'm more familiar with the Potterverse, I want to host one here too. I already have the main idea, but you guys will help me with the particulars.
This will center on muggles and their various encounters with the wizarding world in the DH timeline. The characters you submit can be wizard or muggle, doesn't matter which (magicals will need to state their allegiance for story purposes). This will be a series of interrelated short stories that may develop a real plot later on, so don't be disappointed if your character only shows up once. If they fit in well enough, they might become a regular.
Stuff I need to know: muggle or magical, and if they're dark or light in terms of allies (magicals only). Muggle entries can know about magic, but obliviousness is preferred. Apart from that it's up to you. Just remember that this is set in the school year of '97-'98.
