"Ninety-nine...One hundred! Ready or not, here I come!" I say as I uncover my eyes and look around the living room. I make my way up the stairs and begin my search for Rainbow Dash, Pinkie Pie and Fluttershy. I search everywhere: the bathroom, my room, the ponies' rooms, etc. They are nowhere to be found. But with every room I inspect, I find a little bit of this and a little bit of that. In Pinkie's room, toys were scattered all around the floor. I tripped on some of them, bumping my head against her bed. As I continue my hunt for the girls, I use whatever I find as clues. The toys on her bedroom floor indicated that they were hiding there at some time.
I look all around the upstairs floor, until I find familiar hoof steps. I smirk, following them to the attic. Clever ponies, I say inside my head.
I tip-toe the attic and quietly creep inside the room. The attic is filled with old junk from long ago, CDs, books, and colorful sweaters. I catch a small flicker of movement in the corner of my eye. In a bundle of sweaters, I can make out the shapes of Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash huddled close together. They were whispering and giggling to each other, unaware of my presence.
"No one can find us," Rainbow Dash snickers. "We're unbeatable."
"Yes," agrees Fluttershy. "It will take hours, even days!"
I smile and almost laugh myself, but I hold myself back so I do not blow my cover. I want to catch them by surprise. As I silently tip-toe toward them, I try to imagine their faces when they realize that I had caught them without knowing. I am closer now, so very close...
"HI!" Pinkie Pie yells cheerfully, jumping in front of me to my complete shock. I scream in surprise and fall backward, onto my butt. I am dazed for a few moments, and as I clear my head, I could hear Rainbow Dash, Fluttershy, and Pinkie laughing joyfully.
"You should have seen your face!" Rainbow Dash guffaws. "It was HILARIOUS!"
"You thought you could catch us, didn't you?" Fluttershy giggles.
I couldn't help but join in the laughter. "Alright, you ponies got me. But aren't I supposed to be the seeker, and you girls the hiders?"
Pinkie grins cheekily. "We thought it'd be fun to twist the rules a tiny bit. Anyway, we knew you were going to attempt a sneak attack on us, so why should we let you have all the fun?"
We all enjoy a moment of laughter. We laugh until tears spring in our eyes. When we are all calm and smiling, I say, "Next time we play Hide and Seek, give me a heads up before you try to give me a stroke, alright?"
The ponies grinned at each other mischievously. "Well, that wouldn't be any fun," replied Pinkie Pie.
