Wrapping her chiseled, tanned arm around Root's slender waist as she slept, a rare smile graced Sameen Shaw's plump, pink lips. The shallow breaths of her lover was the sweetest song to her ears.

Neither of them took their time with each other for granted; they couldn't, seeing as risk was the overriding theme of their lives. Even simply eating together felt like a luxury. As long as they were with each other, the scenario that they found themselves in was unimportant. Moments where they could just bathe in each other's energy were far and few between and each one could potentially be the last, but just being alive in each other's company was enough for them.

One night of intense love making and waking up next to each other the following morning was nothing short of bliss. There was something poetic and exquisite about surrendering oneself to another, it was akin to handing over a part of one's spirit and allowing it to become a part of them. Getting Shaw to oblige to anything was no easy feat, yet Root never had to ask, and vice versa. All it took was for them to lock deep brown eyes with each other and they knew.

An equilibrium had always been present between them, even before they had fully committed to each other. Neither sought to dominate over the other, they were equals - partners, in every sense of the word. Both were well aware of the fallacious stereotypes regarding two women being romantically adjoined, about how one had to be a 'man', they, of course, paid it no attention. Neither woman suffered fools gladly.

Not Shaw, nor Root knew what the future had in store for them, all they knew was that they needed each other and that they wished that quiet, tender moments between them could last an eternity.

A love like theirs was surely rare to come by.
