Prologue
The sun had been set for a long time. All the activity of the day has come to a cease. The sound of the cars on the distant freeway has come to a halt, and the night life starts to come to life. Terry had been patiently waiting in his seat on the back patio of his house. All the lights had been turned off in the house, and everyone has been asleep for some time now. The only lights on are the ones that line the road, the grandparents' porch light, and the light coming from Terry's iPod. He wasn't doing much on his iPod really. Checking his facebook, swiping on his home screen back and forth, as if to trick himself into thinking he's actually doing something while he waits.
Terry finally stood up after 20 minutes of waiting, and peaked around the house towards the front, wondering what could be taking so long. Not much could be seen with so little light. Knowing he was told to stay put until it was ready, he didn't move from the patio. He circled several times, thinking about everything up to now. Finally, steps were heard around the house.
"Is everything good to go now?" Terry asked very excitedly.
James had just been able to get up on the patio before Terry could ask the question.
"Almost, we just have to wait for midnight, and everything will be ready."
Terry quickly checked his iPod. 11:48. He showed a sign of disappointment, and was clearly anxious about the whole ordeal. James pulled up a seat across from Terry, and set down, gesturing Terry to do the same until it is time. Terry took his seat, and after a few seconds of silence, spoke up to his friend.
"So….what exactly is going to happen?"
James stayed quiet, and had his eyes locked directly onto a point on the ground, as if in deep thought.
"Well, youre gonna get an upgrade. We're gonna make you a badass."
Terry lowered his head.
After a few minutes, James spoke up again.
"Youre gonna be like me. You and me, we will be the same. And that way, we will always be together. Everything I can do and more, you will do. Best friends for life."
Terry smiled brightly, and a moment later, the alarm on his iPod goes off, as it reads 12:00. James stood up, and looked at Terry.
"You ready bro?"
Terry stood up, and walked with James around to the large yard. As Terry and James stood face to face, eye contact locked through the darkness, James hand started to glow, as the symbol on his backhand started to resonate. The 2 boys started glowing even more. With eye contact was kept, Terry could feel it inside of him, as he heard the tune resound in his soul.
Viva la Vida…..Good choice…..
