Sarada sat on her bed, thinking. Her mother had said goodnight to her an hour ago. At this moment, Sakura must had been sleeping and enjoying her comfy bed, and she deserved it after working hard in the hospital. Her mother was the only one she had in this village since her papa was never around. She even couldn't remember her papa's face. Or ...could it be she and her papa hadn't even ever met since she as born?
All her friends in school had father and mother. Boruto's dad was a Hokage. Shikadai's father was the hokage's advisor. Metal Lee's father was the best ninja in taijutsu. Chocho's, and Inojin's father were ones of the best ninjas in Konoha.
Then what about her dad?
What did he leave her and her mama?
Papa ... she wishpered that name. Has he ever thought about his daughter? Didn't he miss his family?
She had a father yet it felt like she didn't have one.
Her mother had to work hard to provide for her. Luckily, her mother was one of the best medicine ninja. She was the student of Lady Tsunade and one of the strongest ninja in Konoha, so money wasn't a problem for them.
What she lack of was a love from a father. That's all.
She wondered, what it would feel like to have a dad around you all day.
She pulled her knees up to her chest and hugged them. Then she buried her face on her knees and started to cry.
Somone opened the door. She forgot to lock it.
"Sarada?" a soft voice called her in the doorway.
Sarada lifted up her face and wiped away tears on the corner of her eyes. "Mama?"
Sakura was a bit surprised to see her daughter crying alone in the midnight. What was bothering her? She walked aprroaching Sarada and sat in the edge of the bed.
"What's wrong?" she asked. "Are you okay?" she put the back of her hand to her daughter's forehead. "You don't look sick."
Sarada couldn't stop her sobbing. She put her head on his mom's chest. Sakura smiled and in an attempt to pacify her daughter, she wrapped her arms around Sarada and rubbed her back gently.
"Shhh ... there, there. Tell me what's wrong."
Sarada sniffed. "Mama," she said. "Papa ... he ..."
At the time she mentioned it, Sakura soon knew what had caused her daughter to cry.
It's about her husband who hadn't returned home for years.
She must missed her dad, as much as she did.
"Mama," Sarada called again. "Did ...did papa hate us."
"No, of course no, Sarada. Why would you say that?"
"Then why did he leave us? Why did he never see me?"
Sakura could feel the pain her daughter was feeling. And as her mother, all she had to do was to soothe her. The thing was, she was feeling the same pain too.
She set a fake smile. "Sarada, now look me in the eye."
Sarada tilted her head. Then Sakura poked her fingertip on her daughter's forehead.
"Now remember this, Sarada," Sakura said softly. "that no matter how, your papa always loves you. And he really does."
"But why did he go?"
"He has to do it to protect Konoha. He's a great ninja, the one Hokage most trusts. It's his job and you know an Uchiha would sacrifice everything for our village. You must be proud of your papa."
Sarada now feel a bit calmer. She smiled.
"Now, are you feeling better?" Sakura asked. She loosened her hug.
"Yes, Mama," Sarada answered. "Thank you."
Sakura stood and planted a kiss on her daughter's forehead.
"Mama?" Sarada called her again as Sakura was about to leave the room.
"Hm?"
"Can I sleep with you tonight?"
Sakura smiled again. She nodded and walked towards the bed. She laid down there with her daughter put her arms around her mama's neck. Sakura did the same to her daughter.
Sarada was her family. Her daughter. And together, they would always be waiting for the return of the one they had been yearning for.
