Mabel Pines lay in her bed, restless and thinking about everything that happened. She just couldn't take it anymore – how could Dipper be sleeping so peacefully in his bed? Stan was someone they loved and knew, and even though he had just explained everything earlier that day, it was just too much to process. Heck, Stan's name wasn't even Stanford! How could he just expect them to 'hit the hay,' when someone that they loved dearly turned out to not be what he seemed? She was even thinking about wearing a plain black sweater tomorrow with a red skirt. She tried, tried, tried to sleep, but she just couldn't. I'll get some milk downstairs, the young girl thought, silently opening the bedroom door and creeping downstairs. On her way down, she heard something. Stan? Yes, Stan. He was looking at the newspaper that said, "STAN PINES DEAD." He grinned. "Well, you did it, Stan," he said to himself. "You faked your own death and took on your brother's identity." He was obviously very satisfied with himself. Then suddenly the phone rang. He answered it. "Hello?" "Is this Stanford Pines?" Mabel watched as Stan's eyes went wide and he started coughing. "Y-Yes, this is Stanford Pines," he said in a good imitation of his twin brother's voice. On the other side of the phone, Filbrick Pines slouched with tearstained cheeks, clutching the family photo he always kept to his heart with one hand and the telephone on the other. "Did you hear about your brother's death?" Back at the Mystery Shack, Stan began to feel overwhelmingly guilty. "Y-yes." He said. "This never would have happened if I hadn't kicked him out. Look at me. Pathetic. What kind of a father am I?" Filbrick was wheezing and gasping for breath now as he cried despairingly. Stan's eyes were starting to get teary as well. "D-dad, it's okay," Stan said. "I, I think he already forgave you." Filbrick didn't answer his son, just kept on sobbing. Finally, he took a deep breath and said to Stan, "You better hang up, son, before I get too emotional." And so Stan did. Mabel decided that she needed to comfort him, she was near tears too actually. Stan had sat down, and started sobbing. He felt extremely guilty. Suddenly he felt someone hug him. "M-Mabel?" he asked quietly. "Shouldn't you be in bed?" Mabel shrugged, and replied with "Too much on my mind." She sat down next to him. "Are you okay, Grunkle Stan?" It made Stan feel even more upset and guilty, it's been a while since Mabel called him that. He nodded silently. Although it's been a week since that incident, not one of them forgot.
So how was it? Please, please review, and no flames please, this is only my second fic. I hope you guys liked it! I know it's emotional, but that's the effect I was going for. Also, I have no idea if "Filbrick" is really the dad's name LOL. Please tell me if there's any spelling mistakes!
