Chapter One: Minutes
He sat there, tears rolling down his cheeks. He had failed at what needed to do, the frail girl laying there, cold. He reached behind him, pulled the cord, and reversed time itself. He knew what he had to do. "Jinx!" He shouted, "Dodge!" He swung his blade with presion, Jinx barely ducking to dodge it, cutting the bullet in half. He looked to Jinx. "Run." He grabbed her hand and ran towards the exit, his only hope.
He pushed her through and slammed the door behind them. "We made it... For now..." He was out of breath. "Ekko, you're bleeding." Jinx had set her hand on his chest, covering the wound. "Its alright, doll." He hasn't noticed until then. Jinx put more pressure to try and stop the bleeding. "Please don't die on me, Ekko." Her voice cracked, her heart ready to shatter. "Why would I do that?" His voice was weak. He closed his eyes, drifting into a sleep. "Ekko!" Jinx cried, thinking he was dead. "Ekko, don't leave me!" She screamed louder. Ekko had heard her in his sleep and woken up slightly, with a weak voice he said softly. "I'm here, doll... I won't leave..." Jinx began crying more, its the first time he had seen her cry. She was normally so cheerful and upity. He drifted off again, back into a deep sleep.
Jinx had picked him up and carried him to their hideout by the time he woke again, he thought 'Where am I..?' He looked around and realized he was home, he tried sitting up but a sharp pain prevented him. 'What happened?' 'Why does it hurt?' Were some thoughts that went through his head. He looked down to see bandages wrapped around his chest. "Jinx?" His voice was low. "Jinx..?" He called again. "Ekko, you're awake now?" He heard a female voice say, not recognizing it at first. "Yeah.. I'm awake." He replied, realizing the voice was the voice of a worried Jinx. She walked over to him, placed her hand on his, and gazed into his eyes. "I will never leave you behind, Ekko." He smiles faintly, still in pain. "And I will always turn back time for you.." They both smiled. Jinx leaned in closer to him, her heart racing. She puckered her lips, kissing him softly then pulling away. "I love you, Ekko.. More than explosions." She said. "And I love you more than time can tell." He replied. Ekko scooted over to make room for Jinx, she laid down beside him, setting her head against his chest. They both were exhausted and fell asleep quickly.
