Holding Eternity
Kaname holds eternity in his hands, time stretching boundless before him. Time cannot touch him, cannot hinder him, it claims no hold on a vampire. Particularly it does not hold any power over a pureblood vampire. Dissatisfaction eats at him though, claws at his ageless insides and burns away any contentment he may have ever held. His ageless mind chews over the problems of his ageless companions, who though ageless most will probably die long before him.
Kaname fixes the vampire courts squabbles, calmst their fears, manipulates them till they do what he wants and not the other way around. Still yet, he feels empty.
He has Yuki, his queen, the love of his life, and still yet he is empty.
At one point he was content, warm in her smiles and soft eyes, in her endearing innocence. But vampires were not innocent creatures, Yuki knew the world, but on human terms not on those of a vampire. Time passed beneath their feet too quickly and too soon Kaname find himself turning from a conversation to find Yuki's big eyes frozen, cold and lifeless as her lips turned up in a plastic smile.
He turned away, smiling, forever smiling the gentlemanly I'm vaguely interested smile, the one that spoke of attention and yet rank. That said, 'yes interesting, you are still but an insect to me though,' the one he always seemed to wear these days.
Kaname has to stop his hands from clenching at the throne he sits upon, from breaking the stone and questioing why every attempt of his to bring happiness failed so miserably. It will be fine though, there is still time to make everything right, they have eternity after all.
He turns again, wine glass in hand and still disturbed, fears only vaguely quelled. Yuki's smile, warm and blossoming with eyes included calmed all his fears. He dismissed the fact that her gaze was glassy and far away, it meant nothing. Yuki was smiling, and all eternity stretched before them.
Everything was fine.
Kaname turned back to the conversation, oddly ignorant to the fact that though his and Yuki's story continued the question of love had left their eternal lives long ago. It had left, it had ended with a silver headed boy and, of course, blood.
A/N: -Giggles psychotically- Ok, now I forgive Kaname for being such a bastard.=D
