Joan was woken in the middle of the night from the lack of rolled over on the cold bed, hoping to cuddle up to Sherlock, only to find an empty bed.
She sighed to herself, she was used to waking up in the middle of the night to an empty bed. Sherlock often had trouble sleeping, and would wake up in the middle of the night.
She left the bed, shivering from the cold on her bare skin. She found Sherlock sitting on the couch, browsing through his phone.
"What are you doing, love?"
Sherlock jumped at the voice. "Jesus Christ Joan! You scared me."
"Sorry."
She walked over to the couch, plopping herself next to the Brit.
"Where are your pants, Joan?"
"Dunno, I woke up because I was cold. Why didn't you wake me up"
Joan moved closer to Sherlock for warmth. Sherlock sighed before formulating his words.
"I just didn't want to disturb you, you looked so peaceful."
"Oh Sherlock."
She hugged Sherlock, planting little kisses on the top of his head. "Come on love, I'll stay up with you till you fall asleep."
She shivered as Sherlock got up off the couch, taking the heat with him.
She followed closely behind Sherlock to their bedroom, crawling into bed first so Sherlock could cuddle close to him.
"You're warm" she mumbled into Sherlock's hair.
However, Sherlock's snores indicated that he was already fast asleep in Joan's arms.
She breathed a sigh of relief, knowing no matter what demons Sherlock faced at night, she could chase them away just with a simple touch.
A simple, warm touch.
