Coping With A Loss
Dakota was having a manicure at her house, she was in her room when a maid knocked on her door. "Miss Milton, Sam Jones is dead."
Dakota nodded and shooed the maid away. She began to quietly sob, as soon as she was alone in her room, news got around.
Dakota was in shock, she didn't cry when others came, Heather Manich tried first to cheer her up; Heather strutted into Dakota's room.
"Come on, he was a nerd. You should be happy he's gone."
"You've never lost someone!" Dakota screamed, "But when you do- just, you know what, I need to be alone." Heather scoffed and walked off.
"Loser." Heather muttered.
Her parents left her alone and she began to sob, tears streamed down her face, she gobbled up ice-cream and eventually fell into a deep sleep.
She was prodded awake by the prestigious girl Courtney, "Hey Dakota, is it, I am sorry for your loss." Dakota smiled and thanked Courtney.
Courtney gave her some flowers. "I know this won't make you feel better but if you need anyone to talk to-" Courtney began to tear up, she shook her head and the tears cleared. "I'm your girl."
Courtney turned around and marched to the door, "Wait!" Yelled Dakota quickly, when Courtney turned she had tears streaming down her face.
"Loss is so hard!" Courtney sobbed, Dakota nodded and sobbed, "Sometimes people are so inconsiderate and they think a talk will make things better!"
Courtney and Dakota hugged, they were shivering and shaking, "I lost my Duncan to drugs!" Cried Courtney. "And everyday I always think about him. People think I have no feelings, well I do, I may not show them, but I do!" The girls wailed until it was late.
They told eachother stories about there lost loved one and they found coping mechanisms, they found support in each-other.
A vase smashed from downstairs, a male gravelly voice along with others could be heard. "That's not my parents."
"I am trained C.I.T, I know how to deal with this." Courtney shakily got up and Dakota followed Courtney downstairs.
She only watched as Courtney had been spotted and she hadn't, Dakota watched on in worry. One man got up a gun, Courtney dodged the bullet.
Dakota spread her arms out wide and then came the break of dawn and then she was gone.
