A.N- ok so I'm writing this while I'm on vacation but by the time it's uploaded on the website I'll be back but I thought of this while I saw my screen saver on my laptop and I wanted to write it down b4 I forgot it…

That day changed everybody. Changed them in the worst possible way. Someone lost a daughter, a friend, a co-worker, a law enforcer. But most of all, someone lost their soul mate. The day that Det. Jessica Angell was gunned down impacted everyone's life. But it hit Don Flack Jr. the worst. He lost his soul mate in the brutal attack of a kidnapping in the diner.

No one may ever be able to fill that spot that she filled in his life. As the one year anniversary of Det. Jessica Angell's death came, Don saw himself going into a deeper slump then he was after the doctors came and told him that she died during surgery, because as the one year came around that made it seem more real. Not the wake or the funeral or burial or even seeing her lifeless body in the hospital morgue while holding her limp hand in his.

As he's sitting in front of her tombstone in the cemetery for what seemed like the 1,000 time that year he thought back to a day where they both had off which was VERY rare for them. They went out to the beach and sat at the part where there was hardly anybody there so it was very peaceful and quiet for the young couple. They were talking about what would happen to one of them if something horrible happened to the other.

---

"Jess we already had something bad happen to me." He said. He was sitting on the blanket they brought with Jess in between his legs and his arms around her.

"Yeah but it's not the same. Well I mean yeah it is, but we weren't together then. Even though my feelings were just coming out for you they weren't how they are now. Right?" she said looking up at him.

"Yeah I guess you are right. But what if something were to happen to you? What if you are killed? What would I do?"

"You'd be fine Donnie. I know you will. Sure you'll miss me, but who wouldn't miss me?" she said making them both laugh. "But I know you will be able to move on. Sure you won't forget me, you may never will but you will find someone else who makes you just as happy as I make you. Besides, you'll always have your guardian Angell." She said looking back out towards the waves crashing into the sand.

"Oh yeah? And who's my guardian angel?"

"Me. Why else do you think I have that last name?" she said laughing slightly.

"Well I thought it was because an Angell brought you to your parents instead of Satan but sometimes I wonder that theory." He said laughing and making her laugh more than before.

"Why'd you have to do that? You just ruined a perfectly romantic moment by being so you."

"Of course I had to. It was getting too mushy for me, you know how I get when our conversation's get like that."

"Yeah, yeah, whatever you say you big goof ball."

"Seriously Jess? Goof ball? Are you sure you're 26?"

"Ha ha you're so funny."

He laughed at the memory of them while staring at her tombstone. As it simply read,

"You truly are my guardian angell, Jess. I'll love you forever." Don said to the wind.
