AN: 1) This drabble is fanfiction for the BBC show from 2003 called "Strange". The show ended on a cliffie, and then was cancelled, and I've been rewatching the episodes on youtube lately. I got inspiration for this and just had to write it ^^' The show is sort of ... ex-reverend John Strange kills demons - his girlfriend was killed by one, he was scarred. Apparently once you interact with a demon other ones are attracted like magnets. techie Toby, 'sensetive' kevin, John Strange (who's been excommunicated for believing in demons), and Judith (whose ex husband is apparently a demon) save the world from demons. It's mostly she and Strange who go round killing demons... mostly because they almost get killed in the proccess. the now that I've explained the pilot episode (which was shoddy compared to the rest of this great little show), we can move on... this drabble has almost nothing to do with any of that. Yup. What happened in episode 6, which this is a bit of a scene extension on for a minor character that I love nonetheless, is simply that strange gets arrested thanks to something canon black says to someone. and then the demon shows up and strange ends up in a coma. Anyways...
2) So I just watched this episode the other day but somehow I've gotten confused and I'm not sure if Toby went to get coffee or something to eat. I should probably rewatch it, but this little drabble begged to be written and I've never written anything from Strange before so I didn't want to stop and maybe lose the inspiration. ^^' I wrote coffee but whatever…
Toby hid around the corner and strained his ears to listen. He may have left Strange's hospital room, but that didn't mean he wasn't curious -and suspicious- about the Canon. The man was practically threatening Jude and Strange. Apparently the fact that something the Canon had said had directly led to John's current state of being in a coma didn't bother Canon Black. Toby's fists clenched, but he waited a second more before continuing on his way to get the coffee.
Footsteps following him made the young man freeze, throat a little dry. He did his best to hide the reaction, and half-turned to meet the cold gaze of the Canon. Toby affected an innocent expression, head tilted slightly. A grin didn't suit the mood, not that he would be able to fake a smile right now. His friend was in a coma, things were hanging by threads and Toby was worried.
The Canon approached, and Toby raised his eyebrows slightly.
"I ought to remind you, boy, that private conversations are exactly that."
"Of course." Toby said shortly, "I stopped to tie me shoe." He explained, gesturing vaguely. The Canon didn't bother to check, staring at him for a moment before turning with a swish of that cloak of his and walking away.
Toby narrowed his eyes, suspicions swirlign through his mind and anger at strange's situation making his fists clench slightly again, and then Toby shook his head and continued on his way. He'd told Jude he was getting coffee, so that's what he would do.
