Falling in Love
She could feel herself falling, falling, falling. Suddenly, her feeble arms caught on to something, and she found herself halfway down the stairs, staring into the eyes of Rhett, who for once, seemed frightened. "Mammy," his hoarse voice cried. "Mammy, get down here right now," The last thing Scarlett remembered was Mammy's face, peering down at her with concern, before everything faded away into darkness.
She awoke to sunlight streaming in through the curtains. Rhett was by her bedside, staring into oblivion. Suddenly, he jumped, seeing that she was awake. His face melted into something she had never seen from him before. It seemed to be a mixture of remorse, and anger. He started speaking, but she interrupted him.
"The baby." He seemed to understand what she was saying before she even finished. "It's alive." She settled back on her pillows, relieved. "Dr. Meade says he's a fighter, just like you." She smiled, glad that her worst fears proved not to be true.

"Well Miss. Scarlett, you've got a healthy baby girl," Mammy said.
"Will she be all right?" No child of mine is going to have any restrictions, not if I can help it."
"She'll be just fine," a familiar voice said.
"Rhett, you're back," Scarlett exclaimed with delight. "Nothing could he keep me away," he said adoringly as he walked over and pecked her on the cheek. "After all, Bonnie couldn't wait to see her new sister." Scarlett smiled as she held her new baby. In the months since her fall, she and Rhett had become had much closer. True, she was still stubborn, nobody doubted that she would always be that way, but something in her had changed since she had almost lost her baby. In a way, she was much more protective. She was no longer worried about her marriage with Rhett. Ever since that awful day, he had barely left her side, and she had to plead with him to take a vacation when she was getting close to delivering the baby. Plus, he seemed to have forgotten about all previous conflicts, just happy to have his wife and child alive. As Scarlett looked around the room, into the faces of her family, she smiled. Life, at long last, was good.
