Dad, Teal'c. Bratec and I come down the ramp, and there he is at the bottom waiting, with the biggest smirk you ever saw.
"So...miss me?"
Right in front of Dad too, who started giving me the evil eye right away.
"Of course, sir." What else could I say?
That I worried about him every second he was gone in that jungle, that ever since the non- goodbye in my lab, I had been wishing that we had said something.
Anything.
Verbal.
Even though I could see it in his eyes.
I hung back and let the others leave first, so that we were there together last.
"Hey, so ..nice command."
"We did manage to make it out alive, sir. "
Thank God.
So I can still see his brown eyes.
Letting them say what he dares not say aloud.
Seconds go by as I lose myself in their warm chocolate depths.
It feels like hours.
"Lunch?"
We go out of the gateroom, our shoulders bumping together in a seemingly casual fashion.
I'm home.
And I did miss him.
And he knows it.
