"Call Nico," Annabeth tells me, still breathless, holding our little baby girl. I do as she says, dialing Nico's number and listening as it rings and rings and rings and rings.
Finally, he picks up. "Hello?" he answers. He sounds confused. "Percy? Is everything okay? Is the baby oka—"
"Yeah, Nico, it went perfectly. The baby's okay, Annabeth's okay... That's what I called to tell you about."
"Oh, that's great, Percy! Congratulations! It's a girl, right?"
"Yes." I look over at my smiling wife and our squealing child. "She's a girl."
"What're you gonna call her?"
"Her name's Bianca," I tell him, my voice shaking. "We're naming her Bianca."
I hear a gasp, and then soft sobs come from the other line. "Percy," he says finally. "You..." He seems to not know how to respond. He takes a deep, vibrating breath. "Thank you."
