Enter Neron
Note: The events of this story follow shortly after Shade and Daine are married. For those who missed it, the wedding went off without a problem, although Lana wept, because she missed her chance for romance with Shade. Also, this story refers to several points in Lana's demon hunting career.
Those events have, at least at this point, never been written.
Lana stood at the edge of a cliff towards the outskirts of Bayville. Her face was stained with tears, and she looked outward. The full moon illuminated her completely. Because of this scene, a passer-by would have assumed Lana was preparing to jump. However, the Demon Hunter was in no way thinking suicidal thoughts. Instead, she was meeting someone.
A faint crackle sounded nearby, and Lana knew without looking. "Hello, Neron."
The being called Neron slid up next to the Demon Hunter. In appearance, Neron was a very thin, almost snake-like wraith. In reality, that form was all that remained of his former self: a mighty Demon Prince. "Perceptive, girl.so tell me, why have you called me here?"
"Before, when I defeated you, you offered me ultimate power, for a price. I refused you then. I call you now."
"I take it you've.changed your mind?" The wraith almost purred.
"I only refused because I thought there might still be a chance for something between Shade and I. Daine has taken that from me." Lana spoke, her voice choking back more tears.
"And.you understand the arrangements to the offer?" Neron asked.
"In exchange for the power, you get a solid home inside of my heart and soul, providing you with a corporeal vessel. Yes, I understand it all." Lana then turned to Neron for the first time that night. "So let's have it."
"Very well." Neron seemed to reach inside a flap of his wraith-like body, and pulled out two glowing crystals. "These are all that remains of the disembodied power of the ultimate forces of the universe."
"The Polarite and the Shadowlord.yes, I remember them well." Lana reached out, and held her hand over the crystals, feeling the immense powers already. "What do I do?"
"I am to infuse my energies around the crystals. Then, you will absorb the crystals into your body, merging them together to form a spiritual case around your heart, effectively making you the strongest being in the universe."
Lana took a deep breath and wiped back her tears. "Do it."
Neron began to glow, and his wraith-like body stretched out even more, swirling around the crystals. Lana reached out and held the crystals, and pulled them close to her. The crystals connected with her very being, and Neron flowed into her. The crystals began to merge as the energies of the Polarite and the Shadowlord combined, mixing white and black into grey. They formed a single, spiritual crystal, which entered Lana's body, solidifying around her heart.
Lana looked up, and her eyes seemed to burn with fire. "And now.now, we play." Fire erupted around her, and she launched herself up into the sky, heading back to Bayville.
And thus, the Neron Saga began.
