Kirk was looking out the window of the USS Enterprise alone, looking at the stars in the distance; he felt feelings of awe looking at the stars shining in the sky like diamonds. He sighed and thought to himself, "why is it that the stars fascinate us?"
Kirk asked himself. Spock walked up to Kirk and noticed that he was in deep thought. May I join you? Spock asked Kirk. Sure, Kirk replied. Spock then sat on the floor with Kirk and they were looking at the stars. Hey Spock I was wondering something, Kirk said. What is that? Spock asked. I was wondering, why do the stars fascinate us? Kirk asked.
I guess the reason is because when the early explorers travelled the seas, the used the stars as a guide, we also tell stories with the constellations, but I guess the emotional reasons is that we just want something we can't reach, no matter how hard we try we can't reach the stars not even today, Spock said.
I understand that feeling, wanting something you can't reach no matter how hard you try, and I just wish and wish that I could hold on to that one shining star, Kirk said. The young captain was wondering why he was acting like this, it was like Spock was the only person who he could trust, who could possibly understand him, and felt a possible connection to him, but why?
Kirk are you okay? You seem troubled, Spock said. Well I was thinking about how you seem to be the only one to understand me, trust me, and have a connection to me, Kirk said. What do you mean? Spock asked. I mean that I feel that deep emotional connection that is… Kirk suddenly stopped.
That is what? Spock asked. Love, Kirk replied. I loved you ever since I first saw you, but I was afraid to tell you, I love you and you're my shining star, Kirk said. Spock was silent for a moment then he said, I feel the same way, Spock said before softly kissing Kirk on the lips, before walking away. I love you, Kirk said silently. I love you too, Spock replied before leaving the bridge. A small smile curled up on Kirk's lips as he felt that he finally got to hold on to a star.
