The only thing that might need rating is my author's notes, but let's say... PG for implied depression, feelings of complete worthlessness, and me talking about slash in my AN's. Wow, I never tried to keep to a word count before, it's hard!
AN: Yeah, if they were mine, Hermione would be shagging Ginny in the locker rooms and Draco would be with Harry in the astronomy tower, but his story is just plain old angst... Unless I get reviews telling me to make it otherwise... J.K. Rowling, I'll be sure to hose them off thoroughly before I'm done!
I guess I'm getting too old for this. I tried to protect Hagrid, and a load of good it did him. Then, I got myself blasted and stuck in St. Mungo's while the order needed me. Alone. I can't help but wonder, if one more person had been in the department of mysteries, if one more person was fighting for good..., well, Harry might still have a godfather. Alone. You may think, "Well, she had other students to watch," but no, I have failed them also. Poor Eloise Midgen, she was supposed to be doing work in my class when she tried to curse those wretched blemishes away. I surely should have realized that something was going on, especially with her muttering under her breath in the middle of class, but no, I was too preoccupied with my own life to be able to help others, so she had to run out of class with her nose in her handkerchief. Students think I may be getting lax because of the war with You-Know-Who, but evidently I can't succeed anywhere.
Harry. That boy has the world riding on his back, and it seems every time I try to help him, I just end up causing more misery. I couldn't believe him when he said someone was going to steal the stone, so he had to hold Quirrell off longer. Alone. That rat, Pettigrew, he was right under my eyes. I even commented on the missing toe when Mr. Weasley brought him in to transfigure into a teapot. Instead of putting two and two together, like many others were able to when faced with the evidence, I left them to deal with it.
It was after all the classes for the day were done, and all the students had left, that Minerva was truly left alone with her thoughts.
