Chapter 1: The Beginning
Kiara yawned and stretched her paws in front of her. She looked at Kovu beside her and smiled. He was still in a deep sleep, as a matter of fact, as Kiara looked around the cave, it seemed that she was the first one up. But that soon changed as she hears a roaring yawn come from her right. She then returns her eyes to Kovu and watched as he stretches and scratches his ear with his hind leg.
"Good morning sleepy head," Kiara says with a smile. He then looks over at her and gives her a lick on the cheek.
"Morning, how long have you been up?" He asks as he stands up and looks around to see if anyone else was awake yet.
"Couple minutes, I think this is the first time that I'm awake before you." Kiara said, with a proud smile.
Kovu smiled back. "Don't get used to it." Kiara was about to say something else, but was interrupted by the sounds of the other lions waking up and yawning. It had been a month since the two prides had joined together, and everyone was getting along just fine.
In fact, the two prides joining together was a blessing. It had made them one of the strongest prides, meaning fewer threats of other prides trying to take over.
Kiara started walking out of the cave while Kovu went to talk to some of the others. She walked over to the peak of the rock. She stared out over the horizon, watching the sun peak over the hills. One day this will all be mine .shethought. Kiara then heard someone coming her way; she turned around to see her best friend, Uzuri, Making her way towards Kiara.
"What ya thinking about?" Uzuri asked as she sat down next to Kiara. They had been best friends since they were cubs and had an unbreakable bond.
"Well, you know how I'm going to be queen soon?" Kiara asked.
Uzuri looked at her questioningly for a moment and then answered. "Of course, how could I forget?"
"Well, do you think that I'd make a good queen?"
Uzuri pondered at the question for a moment. "Well, you are kind of bossy."
Kiara couldn't help but laugh out loud. "Thanks, but is that a yes or a no?"
"Yes, I think you'd make a perfect queen." Uzuri assured with a smile.
"Good morning ladies." Kiara and Uzuri turned around to see Nala making her way out of the cave. Kiara walked over and nuzzled her mother and did the same when she saw Simba walking out behind Nala.
"Good morning mother, good morning father."
"Good morning, I see you're up early today." Simba said with a smile.
"Mother, do you think I can go with you and the other lionesses on the hunt today? Please?" Kiara pleaded.
Nala looked glanced over at Simba, who gave an approving nod. "Okay."
"Yes! Thank you!" Kiara then rushed back over to Kovu to share the good news.
"Kovu, I get to go on the hunt today!" Usually, most lionesses would have already been part of the hunting, but with Kiara's protective parents, it was exiting and new.
"That's great! Your father said that he wanted to talk about something. Is that good?" Kovu questioned, but Kiara just laughed.
"With my father, you never know." Kovu smiled.
"Kiara! It's time to go!" Nala called.
"Coming mother!" Kiara then nuzzled Kovu and left the cave.
