The death of Abbadon closed the Cardiff rift, but it also sent shockwaves throughout the supernatural world.
In Bath, England, closest to the Rift, Willow Rosenberg collapsed in Rupert Giles' arms, feeling so many lives leaving the world and the death of the demon. For days after, her eyes haunted, she stayed in the woods nearby, keeping touch with the light that she now practiced. Giles could only look on helplessly, wishing he could explain what had happened.
In Rome, Buffy Summers was found curled up on her bed, guilty for days that she hadn't even known about such a huge demon, let alone been there to stop it. Dawn stayed with her, eventually bringing her out of their apartment and back out on the streets.
The former hellgod Illyria, even in her human host with her diminished powers, felt the death throes of her fellow demon. She also felt the lives Abbadon had taken before his demise. Her compatriots still in the Deeper Well stirred in their slumber.
Angel and Spike, as well as soulless vampires, felt the ripples of such a huge source of Evil passing from the world.
Sam and Dean Winchester actually had an upswing in lesser demonic activity, but these specimens were not quite as clever, not quite as subtle, and much easier to dispatch. Abbadon's death had sent a shockwave through Hell itself.
In San Francisco, Phoebe Halliwell woke screaming in terror and tears, scaring her husband half to death. She wept in his arms for the lives lost, one hand cradling her belly where her baby rested for only the last few weeks. Her sisters and their families also felt the ripples of so many lives taken; Wyatt and Chris Halliwell slept in their parents bed for two nights after dreaming of the demon.
And somewhere, the First Evil wept, for one of its greatest allies was lost to the forces of good.
But the forces of good had a few shocks of their own to deal with.
Those in Heaven, who had witnessed Captain Jack Harkness' sacrifice, were confused because they never received his soul for rest. Prue Halliwell and Andy Trudeau agreed it didn't make sense; Jack had earned this reward. Even after Patty Halliwell asked, the Elder Whitelighters never met Jack after his death, and they would have made him the offer.
When Jack started breathing again days later, Jenny Calender and Tara Maclay agreed there was a different kind of magic involved, different even from the magic Willow had used to resurrect Buffy. Both sides continued to wonder what had happened.
And Liandra, the Fallen Angel of Bete Noir, felt something ripple through her, between the death of Abbadon and the return of Jack Harkness. She looked up at the stars, searching for guidance that she could no longer receive.
