This is a teaser for a story I'm planning to write after I finish 'After the War.' This is what could've happened after the Gatekeepers, Richard and Lohan went through that door in Hong Kong. Read on…
Disclaimer: I don't own the Power of Five series or the Divergent series.
Jeanine Matthews couldn't believe what was happening.
She had been doing research on the serums in her office. Late nights had become a normal thing for her within the past year. In fact, late nights were now regular for all official members of Erudite. They were in tensions with Abnegation, and they were determined to expose them to all the factions as they really were – liars and cheats, who had been keeping the best of everything for themselves. Selfless indeed.
It had been around eleven o' clock, and the lights were shining in all of the Erudite buildings. Jeanine had been poring over something in a microscope. Then she got the most horrible, searing pain in her head. It was unlike anything that she had ever experienced, like a red hot poker being jammed into her skull. It was agony.
'Listen to me, Jeanine Matthews.'
The voice roared in her head. She fell to her knees, clutching her head and screaming.
'Quiet, you fool.'
She stopped, but her mouth was still open in a silent scream.
'An unexplained occurrence will take place tomorrow. Five children and two adults will appear out of nowhere.'
'What?' she managed to croak out, trying to imagine now illogical this was.
'You must find them, Miss Matthews.'
'But why?'
'They are as much a threat to your precious system as the Divergent are. They could bring it down to its knees. The adults are to be imprisoned. They can be used in a trap. The children are the priority.'
'But-'
'Don't you want the system to prevail? Don't you want peace? Don't you want to capture the Divergent?'
'Yes –'
'I can help you. I can help you round them up. But you must capture the Five.'
'The Five?'
'Don't question me, you fool!' The voice roared again, louder. Jeanine winced.
'What must I do?'
'You must pledge yourself to me. Then you formulate a plan to capture them.'
'Yes.' Jeanine nodded slowly. She was being brainwashed without her realising. 'Yes. I pledge myself to you… what is your name?'
'I am known to them as Chaos. Chaos, King of the Old Ones.'
A cliffhanger…
I am going to write this story eventually. I just wanted to post this teaser to see if people would want to read it. Would you?
Looking forward to hearing your opinions!
