Summary: Her parents cursed her the day she was born.

They wanted her to be beautiful.

Her parents wanted her to have warm, light eyes that burned and ached and felt like fire that coursed and raged and created a lightening storm in your soul. Wanted them to be green – like the grass of a morning day or the emerald silver hint that shines through to make grown men fall to their knees in reverence.

( they didn't realize her eyes would be broken and jaded and the green of envy and greed. so she sits and cries and wets those green green eyes so they'll think she's petty and weak and needing protection when in actuality she wants to slam her fist into the pretty frame that cradles her picture family.)

Their desire was for her to have long pretty hair – pink or brown – something soft and long and able to be put up in elegant hair styles that made her glow like the stars in the sky that she can't really see through the hazy glass anymore.

(they wanted it long, to be pretty, she thinks it's a leash, something for the men to grab onto and hold her back and make her weak. but she won't. she'll stand and fight death and be a healer and save lives and lose others and cry for it. she will be the strongest of them because she knows the human body like no one else and sometimes the way she hits won't kill but you sure as fuck won't be able to feel anything but pain for the rest of your life.)

they craved for her to have a beautiful life, so they named her a cherry blossom, a beautiful blossom that was the most beautiful thing in the spring and had a lovely life and everyone awed and ooh-ed at because she has to be pretty, she wont be a ninja. She will be a civilian who loves and lives and gives pretty grandchildren.

(but they named her after a flower that dies after every spring, they gave her a name that meant early death to those cursed with it. they made a prettypretty little doll to live and be perfect, but they made her fragile and life takes her so soon and there's nothing to do but mourn and grieve and lose yourself in the grief because this wasn't meant to happen!)

She always looked so pretty in red.
