Chapter 1
'5 more minutes. Just 5 more minutes till the end greets us all…'
Simply 5 more minutes before everything would stop- only for as long as the sound of the bell -before the prisoners would be let loose. The heavy metal doors would swing open, unlocked, the endlessly long white hallways would be filled with shouts and screams (most of joy, but many of pain too-). The sound of stampeding crowds deafening ears, similar in comparison to the sound of war drums. The rush of the adrenaline would arise within each man and woman, and the beating of hearts so frantic that you would think they were attempting to synchronise!
Next would come the harsh pushing and pulling, the "Move already!" and the "What the hell are you waiting for?!" would follow. The entire process happened everyday (except Saturdays and Sundays and the holidays- apparently even tyrants needed a break from being 'tyranty-ish') just like clockwork and was just as tiring each time. Inmates would greet one another with unparalleled joy before hastily joining the fray in its rush of movement. If one were to be a part of this mob they would know then that the ensuing scenery would be that of the prisons front courtyard.
And finally, at the very height of excitement, -the crescendo reaching so high that its climax could be nothing than possibly a breath away- the old rusty barred gates would sing its long awaited soprano creak before swinging outward (in relief?) and ending the traditional symphony of pure unrestrained, uncontrollable, unfathomable noise.
Rinnnngggg!
'Aaaand there it is.'
He sighed. School was officially over for the day.
Mmm, any thoughts?
