Summary: She's waiting for them.

Abby Scuito hates waiting (waiting for her Caf!-Pow, waiting for a result, waiting for the rain to stop and the sun to shine). The Forensic Scientist will sit, for hours on end, staring at her computer – maybe the pixels make time move faster she thinks, watching them instead of the sun moving outside of her window. The Monday that everyone hates seems to be everyday ever for her; while she waits, while she wonders and worries.

(will they die today?)

" Abby." The voice is warm and thick with an accent. It belongs to her friend, to her best friend, she turns to look at the offending body in the doorway, the person standing there with a Caf!-Pow.

(will I never see them again?)

She turns with tears in her eyes and launches herself at Ziva David, wrapping her arms around the thin waist of the woman. She holds tight and whispers Ziva's name and when the Israeli wonders aloud what happened Abby freezes.

(will I lose them?)

This is not Gibbs. Ziva doesn't know her worries, her fears, her moments of fire and ice.

" I just…I get worried when you guys leave, like you'll never come back, you have no idea what that's like Ziva!." The words are soft and like a little girl that wants the rain to stopplease.

Ziva stiffens and wraps her arms awkwardly around the taller scientist and holds her close, as Abby leans on her shoulder. She buries her face in Abby's hair (like a lover but it's a sister and it's all good) and whispers tightly, " Yes, I do."

Abby questions why she said what she did because this is Ziva, this is everything fearful and dangerous because she's Mossad.

She lost her sister, lost her brother, lost her friend, lost a lover, lost everything.

Abby lost her grandfather and her Gibbs but only for a short while (but now her Gibbs is back and ready and she's not losing him so easily).

" I'm sorry, Bright One."

" Me too, Joy-Bringer."

It doesn't matter that she waits anymore.

(because the ones that matter always come back.)

yeah, I did just insult Kate indirectly…sorry about that.

Joy Bringer – Abby, in Hebrew, means Joy Bringer or Fountain of Joy.

Bright One – Ziva, also in Hebrew, means bright or star or shining.
