So the middle of the night is the perfect time to write a story, right?
Right.
I suddenly got the idea for this story while flipping through Marina and the Diamonds's songs. I came across Are You Satisfied? and couldn't help but associate Vriska with it.
I must warn you, as this was written in the middle of the night, OOCness might be prominent.
And well, I'm not sure how exactly this story came to be, but I hope you enjoy it!
Disclaimer: I don't own Homestuck, Vriska, Gamzee or anything in this story but the idea and well the story. Homestuck (c) Andrew Hussie.
Letting out a sob, Vriska Serket crashed to the ground. Tears pouring out of her eyes.
At some point during the day everything she'd ever done wrong came bursting into her head. All at once. To make it even more painful, the thoughts just kept repeating. Not ever stopping. Flipping through all her wrong doings thousands of times. Finally she reached break point. She slipped out of the lab where everyone was oblivious to the sudden shock the spider-troll was feeling. She rushed to a nearby hallway, trying to get somewhere she wouldn't be found. But the thoughts became so overwhelming that she just stopped in her tracks. Collapsing.
She cried silently. Not paying any attention to her surroundings. So when a pair of polkadot pants were suddenly right in front of her, she was quite frightened. She quickly turned around, doing a half-assed job of wiping the tears away.
"What do you want?" She tried to say harshly, only managing to sound like indifferent.
The juggalo stayed silent. He stayed where he was.
"Well? What the hell you you want?" Vriska yelled.
He still said nothing, but crouched down next to her. He put his arm around her shoulders and pulled her into a hug. She flailed in an attempt to get out of his grip. But he only tightened his grip more. Finally she gave up and stared grumpily straight ahead. She tried as hard as she could to keep the tears in, but she finally broke again after an hour. She didn't make any sounds, but a small trickle of tears started. She turned her head away from Gamzee. He sat down on the ground and pulled Vriska into his lap. She didn't fight back or try to stop him. She just stared straight ahead without making a single move.
"Gamzee... You don't hate me, right? Not meaning in a Kismesis kind of way. As i-" Vriska's whispers were interrupted.
"Look around and you tell me."
"...I guess you're right..." Her voice didn't sound quite so depressed.
Suddenly Vriska released all her troubles onto the troll that was leaning his head against hers. With every word she spoke the better she felt. Gamzee listened patiently, listening attentively while she spoke. She couldn't control the stream of tears as she spoke, but as she ranted on, the stream slowed until there wasn't anything left. When she finished what she had to say, her cheeks were tear-stained and her eyes were puffy. But she felt so much happier. They sat in silence. Vriska eventually drifting to sleep, Gamzee swaying back and forth to help soothe her. He sat in the hallway with her until she finally woke up and was her same old self again.
Except.
She felt just a little bit more...
Happy...?
She didn't know, but she felt like the entire world was lifted off her shoulders.
Like a fire had rekindled inside of her.
And here's my small contribution to this fandom. And this very unpopular pairing. Which is like, my OTP.
I hope you enjoyed it!
