20 Years ago- June 27th 1986
It was a hot summer's day in Silent Hill that day and I was sitting on the steps outside my house on Levin St, waiting for my best friend Alison Davis who I'd been friends with since I was three. She helped me through elementary and high school so I owed a lot to her.
I was just sitting on the steps watching some of the kids playing on the street when a pair of hands covered my eyes. A voice then said "Guess who?" I replied with "The bogeyman?". The hands were drawn away from my face and the voice replied "No it's Alison, you know your best friend for the past 14 years? Your friend that's incredibly pretty and nice?" I jokingly replied with "The only Alison I know of is Alison Fawcett the singer".
She lightly tapped me on the arm and said "Very funny Nick, you always were a "funny" guy. How've you been?" "I'm okay" I replied "I mean I'm getting by as best I can but I'm curious why you asked to meet me here?" Alison flicked away a piece of fluff on her shirt and replied "Because I wanted to ask you something." She started to shake and her voice began to shake as well "I... I..." She tried to speak and I said "What is it? What's wrong?"
She took a breath and said "I... love you Nick, I think you're the nicest guy I've ever met and you are the most awesome friend I've ever had plus you're really good looking so I've been trying to ask you this for a while, will you be my boyfriend Nick?"
My mouth was hanging wide open, I couldn't believe it. She was asking me to be her boyfriend, I was ecstatic so I replied "Yes I would love to be your boyfriend". She put arms around me and hugged me, she then looked up at me and we kissed, it was my first kiss and it was really special. After the kiss, Alison put her hand towards her ponytail and took off her hair tie which brought her dark red hair crumbling around her head. She looked so beautiful with her hair, her Robbie the Rabbit t-shirt from the local amusement park and her red skirt, creating the perfect image.
Alison then said "Will you walk with me to Toluca Lake later?" I replied with "Yes I'd love to". We kissed once more and then she left, I was smiling. I had never been so happy before. I was looking forward to going to Toluca Lake that night.
