In 2018, two years after the end of World War 3, historians in the salt mines of Mittelburg, Germany, discover an ancient energy called Geistkraft that the Nazis had been monopolizing in World War 2. Several countries of the United Nations, including the United States and a few of the European Union have attempted to harness this energy. The United Kingdom and the united States were the first to successfully harness this energy in a safe, stable state. They dubbed it, J-Energy, or Jolts Energy. J-Energy opened the doorway to new, futuristic technologies as well as the biological sciences.
In 2019, the full capabilities of J-Energy was accidentally discovered. In the United States, a careless scientist mistook a canister of J-Energy for a vaccine, and directly injected it into Lieutenant Derek "Frost" Westbrook. The scientist was fired, but after a few days, Lieutenant Westbrook developed unparalleled strength, speed, and reflexes. After a few more days, the J-Energy in Lieutenant Westbrook's body became a part of him in a sense, acting like a muscle; when exhausted, Lieutenant Westbrook experienced fatigue, but after a bit of rest, the amount of J-Energy in his body grew to bigger heights, making him even stronger than before. Scientists have become interested and decided to do some experimentation.
After two weeks, a shocking discovery was made. Lieutenant Westbrook could now manifest J-Energy into a physical form, in an unstable state. This allowed him to launch energy from his hands and create small explosions; it was almost as if he was a human grenade launcher. Ever since the day of his injection, Lieutenant Westbrook had become the very first Evolutionary Super Soldier, or Evo for short.
The discovery had United States' government going wild, attempting to weaponize soldiers of the military - but there was a catch. The injection of J-Energy directly into the body requires a certain gene, which most people don't have. This gene was dubbed the J-gene, and without it, people who were injected with J-Energy have died in gruesome ways. Some have burst into flames, others turned to ice, some even imploded in on themselves.
With these discoveries, J-Energy has instead been focused on the production of new technology, namely, the Exo Suit. While the Exo suit isn't as fruitful as a superhuman powered by J-Energy, it still gave humans more superhuman capabilities, such as jumping twenty feet into the air, or tearing doors off of cars. The invention of this new tech has led to the creation of new private military contractors: Atlas, Sentinel, etc. With all of these new discoveries, Stage 3 countries of the Demographic Transition Model have moved to Stage 4 in development.
At the start of 2020, the most shocking discoveries were made. New species that had been hidden in plain sight, only detectable by Evo's and J-Energy scanner equipment. The first discoveries were made when two, winged anthropomorphic beings attempted to breach a J-Energy facility and steal its resources. They were easily disposed of and were dubbed the D-Specimen (Devil) and FA-Specimen (Fallen Angel) respectively. The first had bat-like wings that were made of silicon. The second had large black feathered wings. Both contained variations of J-Energy that were very powerful.
In February of 2020, the variations of energy plus regular J-Energy were utilized to create a more powerful J-Energy. The first weapons test of the new J-Energy was left to Captain John Price of the disavowed special forces group, Task Force 141. It was very powerful Energy Weapon called the Ohm.
Not long after the test, Price had retired from the military due to having lost the majority of his team during World War 3. Imagine Price's surprise when he found out that Lieutenant Simon "Ghost" Riley, his second in command, was still alive in Japan. Price learned that Ghost had yet to recover from his injuries, and that he was thinking of retiring from the military to try and live a more "normal" life.
Price was definitely surprised when he found out that Ghost was thinking of becoming a teacher. After having such a traumatic childhood, one wouldn't think that someone like Ghost would teach like to teach children. As a child, Ghost was always threatened by his heartless father. One time, Ghost's father took him to a concert where he made him watch someone die. Ghost wanted the children of society to know that what they had was special and not everyone had it. He wanted future generations to grow up and be a part of society rather than a bunch of deadbeats working at McDonald's.
With nothing but time and money in his hands, Price planned to visit Ghost with his informant, Nikolai, for a little reunion.
