Once upon a time, there was a dragon. This dragon had lots of gold and treasure, but he was very lonely. He had always wanted a friend with whom he could go on adventures and solve mysteries, but every time anyone came to visit him, they looked cold. He tried to warm them up, but he always went a little overboard and roasted them. However, one year, a group of dwarves and a hobbit came to visit. They all had nice, warm cloaks and didn't try to steal any of his treasure. Except for the hobbit.

This hobbit, who had started his journey in a hole (not a nasty, dirty hole, mind you, this was a hobbit hole), seemed to be the perfect companion. However, this hobbit wanted to take something from him, a beautiful ring- his prized possession. Although, if he had asked politely…

This frankly rather adorable hobbit, thought the dragon, might be a good friend, but I'll put him through a few tests first. I'll let him think he's got the ring, but I'll play a friendly game of tag with him!

This didn't really go as well as planned, at least for the dragon.
