The Perfect Affliction
Stumpet knew all the signs of her affliction. Worriedly, she knew she would have to tell her King about it.
Not caring that it was too early in the morning for any sane person to be up, she made her way as quick as her legs would take her to the chamber that Bruenor called his own.
Banging loudly on the door, she didn't stop until she heard her King grumble about idiots banging about the Halls, waking everyone up.
The door opened and, without an invitation, pushed past Bruenor and made her way to a chair by a small table. Upon the table, she was glad to find a bottle of her own brew of Holy Water.
Pouring two glasses out, she held one out to her flustered King, before draining her own glass. She licked her lips and sighed, feeling a little calmer.
Still, her hand went up to play with her small beard, a sign that showed how nervous she was.
"What be this visit for. Ye should be lookin' after that durned Elf and his wife."
Stumpet giggled at that thought, a sound that should not come from any good dwarf's mouth, female or not. Drizzt and Catti-brie had been injured badly in an avalanche and had still yet to recover proper use of all their limbs. She knew exactly what those two would be up to, as Drizzt was such an early riser.
"They be fine without me fer two minutes. I have somethin' I be needin' to tell ye." She took a deep breath lowered her fidgeting hand from her chin and put on an excited grin.
"Well? What news ye got?" Bruenor asked her, obviously losing his patience.
Stumpet leapt towards him then and crushed him into a hug of back baking force. "I just wanted to be knowin' a name fer yer heir." She stated, feeling the excitement inside her reach out to the Dwarven King.
She was suddenly the one being hugged, before their lips met in a tender kiss. "Yer pregnant then?!" Came the question she was bound to hear.
Nodding, she placed one of her hands over her stomach, the other bringing one of the child's father's hands and rested it next to her own. "Yer goin' ter be a father."
Stumpet had never seen Bruenor just so...ecstatic before. Both were beyond pleased with this news as pregnancies in Dwarves were rare.
The best thing was, now Bruenor would have his own child to pamper, one of his own blood. One that, even though he loved both Catti-brie and Wulfgar dearly, would be a dwarf.
Stumpet knew this was one of the dwarf Kings secret wishes and had been for quite a while. A child to call his own.
A/N – A short, sweet Stumpet story, as she is one of the neglected characters out there. I am a Bruenor/Stumpet shipper, and someone has to give Bruenor a little dwarf heir to carry on the role of King. Well, anyway, this is just a rough draft. I will be going over this to make to better later on, but I liked this so much, I decided to let you all have a look any way. So look out for an updated version of this. Maybe with a chapter added on after the birth of said child.
So, what do you all think?!
