Late Night Secret

It was late at night and Umi had gone to visit Clef, not knowing that Ascot had followed her. As she entered Clef smiled and made a chair appear for her. Ascot easily hid behind one of the pillars silently.
"Not able to sleep again, huh Umi?"
"No." she looked down at the tile floor in shame.
"The same problem as before?"
"Yes. He won't get out of my head."
Clef patted her hand comfortingly and said "Tell me what it was about this time."
She looked down once more. "We were in the garden, by the fountain. I finally had told him how I feel and...and he started laughing. He said that he could never feel the same way about a bratty stuck up snob like me. That it was laughable that I thought he could love me. He... he said that I was a murder who should go back to their own world." Umi had started crying but couldn't seem to stop talking. "The was so cruel and he hit me. The whole time he was laughing cruelly. He seemed like a demon."
From where he was hiding Ascot couldn't believe that anyone would do that to his Umi. It made him furious to even think of it.
"Umi you know that he would never so something like that. Now take this sleeping potion and go back to bed." Clef gave her a small vile. "Umi maybe it would help if you said it aloud to yourself."
Umi got up clutching the vile "Thank you for listening Clef." he smiled "Oh and Clef." she gave him a small smile. "With my heart and soul, I love Ascot." She walked out.
Ascot sat in shock. 'She was talking about me? She's in love with me?!'
When Clef left Ascot silently walked out and toward Umi's room. He took a quill and a piece of paper out of his glove and wrote a short note to Umi. The next morning she saw it and began to cry in happiness at what it said 'Umi, With my heart and my soul I love you too. Ascot'
