Author's Note: I feel so proud of myself. My first fanfic that's completely cannon and not HD. Maybe I should be working on my long fanfic, but this was just cute to resist writing. Review please!
James Potter sauntered down the grassy slope that led down to the Great Lake; his best friend, Sirius Black was effortlessly swaggering next to him. They were going to meet their other friend Remus so that he could help, help meaning do, their Charms essay. It wasn't that James or Sirius couldn't do the essay, they could, it was just that they had better and more important things to do.
"Lily, are you crazy!"
James' attention was immediately caught and he looked somewhat further down the lake than where Remus was to see three girls, one of whom had gorgeous red hair and was going to into the Great Lake. He could see her friends' reasoning, it was pretty cold outside, James himself had on a jacket and scarf, but then Lily was fearless.
As he watched them the black haired teenagers' thoughts slowly became consumed by the girl with green eyes and so he was, therefore, completely oblivious to all that surrounded him, giving his mischievous partner the perfect opportunity to trip him
"Ooff."
Amused laughter issued to his right and James looked up from where he had tripped on the ground at Sirius who was having himself a good chuckle.
"What was that for?" James demanded, pushing himself up.
"Sorry mate, but you were just so oblivious I couldn't resist." Sirius's black eyes shone bright with harmless mirth, and a pleased smirk had wound itself onto the boys' lips. James ran a hand through his already too messy hair, ruffling it some more.
"Do you think she saw that?" he asked before he could hold the question back.
Sirius fixed him with a fake disgusted look. "Mate you need to get over her. Evans is never going to go for your sorry-arse."
James punched his friend lightly on the arm and then looked back over at the three girls, all of whom either had ignored the two pranksters or just had not noticed. A goofy smile formed on the hazel eyed male's face. "She will, Black, one day she will."
Padfoot rolled his eyes and started walking away from his smitten friend, waving a hand carelessly in the air. "Whatever you say Potter, I'm sure she'll fall for you and you'll have little black and red haired babies running around your comfy home," the handsome young man said sarcastically.
James jogged to catch up with Sirius, and once he did, he slowed down to match his partner in crimes' pace. "You really think so?" Hope had laced itself into James' voice, and Sirius paused to look at him incredulously.
"Mate, you're twitter-patted*."
James gave him a peculiar look, but then laughed and they both kept walking. "You'll see Sirius, Lily Evans will love me one day."
"Yeah, yeah, now come on; if we keep Moony waiting he might actually refuse to do our essay's for us." James gave another laugh, but followed Sirius nevertheless, though as he did he surreptitiously glanced over at Lily again. One day, he thought sweetly yet determinedly to himself.
End note- * for anyone that doesn't know, twitter-patted comes from Bambi and it is an absolutely adorable phrase that means to be in love. Sure in all actuality Sirius probably wouldn't use it, but hey I think it's cute and this is fan fiction.
Review please. (^)-(^)
