Tired eyes that burn

Pounding head that urges him to sleep

Heavy limbs that don't want to move

Lumpy bed that isn't usually this comfortable

Quiet noise that tells him he should be on alert

Sluggish brain that tells him he shouldn't move

Lazy lungs that don't want to remember to breathe

Creaking floor that should be quiet

Groaning bed that complains about its newest guest

Warm body that snuggles against his

Soft lips pressed to his cheek

Slurred words murmured through the haze in his mind

Heavy arm slung around her waist to pull her close

Noisy world fades into the background

Warm sleep swallows him whole
