A/N: Well, here's my first poem! Please read and review! Oh, and I wasn't sure how to punctuate the end of each line, so I figured I'd let you do it! (if you want, that is!) Thanks! Enjoy! v2
Gollum and the Fish
In the desolate heart of a tunnel unknown
Which by dwarf and orc was hewn from stone
There lived a creature so wretched and poor
Too grey and pale; warm sun he abhorred
As he sat in the dark and cold slime
Limbs growing weak as he passed the time
His stomach ached; he began to desire
A scaly fish from the underground mire
So off he lurked through the eerie black
Searching hungrily for a midnight snack
And on his finger he bore one thing
His birthday present, a vanishing Ring
Wallowing through the watery murk
Silent and still, with all senses alert
A sudden swish his reflexes awakened
Yet the grasp in vain; for naught had he taken.
With a scowl on his deep pitiful face
He pursued the fish, thus beginning the chase
Angrily thrashing, disrupting the still
Filling that cave with curses shrill
He lunged, he leapt, he flailed, he flopped
That pitiful creature never ceased nor stopped
Until finally he grasped tightly the skin
Of a hopeless struggling slimy fin
At last he obtained true victory
With fish in fist he danced with glee
But soon he halted in midair
For it appeared that something wasn't there
Once joyful now so suddenly cold
His finger bare, where was the gold?
Devastated Smeagol realized with fear
That his vanishing ring had disappeared!
