Annabeth blushed with embarrassment, as two big guys hoisted her up onto their shoulder. She felt the crowd sweeping her down the path, and although she couldn't see in the dark, she knew where they were taking her. The cries of 'The Lake!' weren't exactly subtle.

She could see Chiron watching and laughing, bathed in light from the big house, and she smiled, embarrassed, at him, even though her head was still buzzing from the kiss. Percy's kiss! She saw Chiron shout something, and it wasn't until a few seconds later that she heard his words.

'About time'

She stuck her tongue out in Chiron's direction.

She looked around, and then caught sight of Percy, carried by the crowd beside her, they were separated by a few metres, but it felt like miles. She watched him as he looked around, laughing, until his eyes were drawn to hers. Those familiar, sea-green eyes she had seen so many times before, but never really appreciated until now. He grinned at her, and she shot him a smile. He blew a kiss back.

Stupid, lovely, brave, crazy, sea-weed brained hero.

She loved him.

She kept her eyes locked on him, and mouthed the words 'help me' gesturing to the crowd carrying them. Then a shout erupted much louder than any earlier ones, and she felt herself flying into the air.

She hit the water with a splash, and yet her clothes remained dry. She stared around, looking for Percy, who must be the culprit of this feat (or her saviour depending how you look at it).

Then a pair of arms closed around her and she felt herself being dragged to the bottom of the lake. Annabeth twisted around, looking up at Percy, his hair floating above his head in some kind of angel-devil halo surrounding his grinning face. She laughed, and he lowered his face to hers.

She broke away to look him the eyes, and was distracted by a green plant stuck in his hair, behind his ear. She plucked it away and grinned.

'Seaweed brain' she laughed, before throwing her arms around his neck and kissing him again.

The best underwater kiss ever.
