Riley was sitting in the bay window crying, face wet with tears.

Maya came through in through the window like she usually did, took one look at Riley and was immediately filled with concern. "Riley! What's wrong, are you okay?"

Riley gave Maya a look of despair in response.

"Yeah that was a dumb question. But seriously what's wrong?" Maya asked, her concern not swaying.

Riley remained silent like the tears still rolling down her cheeks.

Maya bit her lip. Riley's never like this, she had always been Maya's little ray of sunshine. "Hey," Maya started softly, "You can tell me what's wrong. I'm here for you, Riles." She saw Riley's face soften a little, so she knew she was getting somewhere. Maya reached out and wiped away some of Riley's tears, even though they were still falling.

Riley's face softened further as she leaned slightly into her touch, and that's when she finally spoke. "I was told that you didn't like me, Peaches..."

Maya heart hurt. Why would somebody say that to her? Maya moved so that she was closer to riley and beckoned for her to lean against her shoulder.

Riley complied and slowly did as she was told.

Maya looked at her and promised, "Whoever said that to you is wrong. You're my best friend and I love you."

Riley looked up at her, searching her eyes to see if she was telling the truth.

Maya noticed this, and realized just how much this has effected Riley. She thought for a moment. She needed to do something to prove to Riley that she loves her. "Riley, did you believe that was true?"

Riley nodded, which made Maya heart break further.

Even though Riley was having a hard time believing Maya, she was still leaning against her shoulder.

Maya took this as a good sign. She still had a chance. Maya decided what she should do to prove it to her. She looked down at Riley again, brushed away the hair on her forehead, and gently kissed it, letting her lips linger a little. She then leaned her head on top on Riley's and wrapped an arm around her.

Riley spoke up again, rather quickly this time. "I'm so sorry that I didn't believe you, Maya! It's just that I was really hurt by that so I believed it. I love you too." Riley hugged Maya back, still crying, yet this time, happy tears.

Maya smiled at her and her heart filled with happiness. She took Riley's hand and confirmed, "I'll always be there for you." Riley looked up and gave her a quick kiss on the cheek. "Same to you."
