Dear diary,
this is it. A new start, a clean slate. Literally, because my old diary with all the memories is burned. One of the awful things I did while my humanity switch was off. I betrayed, stole and even killed. I was worse than I had ever been before. Maybe even worse than any vampire I have ever known. Now all changes have happened, my transformation is finished. I became a vampire, first a terrible one, now a pretty good one. I feed everyday a bit, just to keep control, to keep the hunger down. I have my humanity switch on and I can finally do what I want to do.
I looked up from my diary as I heard Caroline call my name. ''Elena, you're ready?" she asked.
Of course I was. This would be the best year ever! We started studying. Caroline, Bonnie and I would share a dorm room.
This afternoon Caroline and I would head off to college, Bonnie would be there next week.
''Damon I'm going!'' I yelled to the closed door. He had been in there since forever, what was he doing? There came no answer and I heard Caroline sigh in the car. She literally had NO patience at all.
''Coming Caroline.'' I tried to calm her down. I slowly opened the door. ''Damon?''
''Yes, my dear.'' He said with a sarcastic voice. ''I have to go. I'll see you in a couple of weeks.'' I walked towards him and kissed him. ''Wait,'' he said as he pushed me away. ''here.. It's just a little present, not really anything special or so. Wait to open it until you've arrived.''
I looked at the little, blue, satin box. I knew Damon, he had been doubting about this forever. That probably was what took him so long. He wasn't sure if it was special enough for me, or if it was too much for this moment. He is so sweet.
I kissed him one more time, he pushed me towards the door. ''Come on, blondie is waiting.''
Caroline sighed again. I turned one more time to see his handsome smile. ''Jeremy..''
''I'll take care of him. I'll learn him a couple of things a mature should now.'' ''Damon don't..''
''What? Let him burn the house down? Nope, impossible, you did.'' He said with a smirk.
''Well, okay then.. See you.'' I said and then I walked towards the house, giving the Salvatore house one more look. It was a shame I couldn't have reached Stefan, I still felt a bit guilty about his absence, towards himself, Damon and me.
And then I stepped into Caroline's car and waved one more time at Damon before we drove away.
Finally, a real fresh start.
