For being midnight, there were many distinguishable noises: the crickets chirped, boys snored or shuffled amongst their covers, an odd floorboard creaked. Ciel, barely seeing in the dimness, could hear McMillan's soft breath. He was close enough to feel it on his cheek.
"Can you keep a secret?" the freckled boy inquired.
"Sure, especially since you said you'd help me."
McMillan hesitated, fiddling with his night shirt collar. "Do you ever wish a friend could be more than just a friend?"
"How do you mean?" Ciel spoke candidly.
"I don't know if there is a word for it. It's when being close to your friend puts butterflies in your stomach. It's the feeling you'd get from being kissed by a girl, but it's not the same as that."
"Oh." Ciel shifted closer to his friend, feeling a slight trembling and it wasn't coming from him. "I know what that's called." He raised his head to whisper into an ear. "It's called 'having an affair.'" Ciel raised himself over the quivering boy.
McMillan turned onto his back. Their noses nearly touched. "Do you want to have an affair with me, Ciel?"
In response to this proposition, Ciel tenderly grazed McMillan's pout with his. Lips pressed back urgently and this compelled Ciel to slip his fingers into shaggy auburn locks. McMillan hesitantly mimicked the gesture. Ciel thrust his tongue, which proved to be a little overwhelming. McMillan yelped, his pushing Ciel away an automatic reaction.
Ciel sat up and chuckled. "I'm sorry McMillan. I'm already having an affair." He pressed a finger to his mouth in a shushing gesture. "That's my secret." He turned over and pulled up the sheets. "And besides," he yawned, "I don't have much interest in other boys."
Ciel heard his friend creep back to his own bed.
Author's Note: I should be working on my fifth chapter for my big fic (go check it out, it's hot) but I've had this little drabble floating in my head for about two weeks. It was inspired by that lovely panel in chapter 70 (page... 19?). If you've read it, you can place this scene pretty well. Also, I've yet to read anyone's take on that piece of fan service. Leave a comment, because it fuels the smut machine.
