I couldn't find all the Biblical references I used, especially for the bits and snippets here and there, and I warped most of them to fit the poem. I hope the general meaning is still there, anyway. : )

I rise at 5 a.m. each day
I don't go home till ten
I sleep for seven hours
Then I start my hell again
I hardly touch my Bible
And I don't have any friends
I don't have time for prayer
And as for church, well, that depends.
Until one day I shouted,
"Jesus Christ! I've had enough!
My life's too bloody hectic!
The going is too tough!"
Jesus really did reply
To my surprise that day
He said, "Jenny, now you're talking.
Come hear what I have to say.
"Come to me, for you are weary
And I shall give you rest." [Matthew 11:28]
Cried I in anguish, "Lord, what is this?
Can this be some kind of test?"
"Child,"said He, eyes mournful
"Do not store up earthly money.
For where your treasures are
So your heart will be." [Unknown reference]
I cried out, "Jesus! Help me!
I can't take it anymore!"
"Your yoke is heavy; mine is light.
Come, let me fight my war.
Your eyes should be on heaven
Since you cannot stay on Earth."
His hand extended to me.
"It is time for second birth.
For our father so loved the world
He gave his one and only son
So while men had perished in body
Life eternal had begun." [John 3:16]
Said I, "Yes, I've heard the story,
But I am so full of sin!"
Jesus answered, "Listen to me!
Take no heed the guilt within!
Let us argue this out
No mind how deep sin's stain may go
I can wash our all the crimson
I shall make you white as snow. [Unknown reference]
I long to show compassion
To be gracious to you
Simply let me in your heart
I've been knocking. Let me through!
I offer you eternal life
But pray now, spend it well:
With Immanuel in heaven
Or with Lucifer in Hell?"
I've since renewed my strength in Him
I care not for earthly things
Now I run and not grow weary
And I soar on eagles' wings. [Unknown reference]

I'm sorry I don't have too many references, but a lot of them came from Isaiah. So that's my message: read Isaiah. : ) It's my favourite book... it's full of propecies about Jesus and great verses.

PRAISE THE LORD!
