"I never thought… things would go so wrong." She stopped low over her friend. He stared up at her, a glassy look in his eye. "It's okay."

"No! No it's not!" her entire body trembled as tears rolled off her face.

"I don't blame you..." he winced and gasped in pain.

"Don't you… please…" she chocked back a heart wrenching sob. He smiled at her. "It's alright. My time has passed."

'No! No! Don't give up on me. Please… don't leave me alone Nightwing."

He smiled that smile of his, showing through the blood. "It's okay M'gann. Goodbye." He hand slipped from hers, and she was utterly alone.

"Nightwing?! Nightwing?! Please! Oh god, no! Nightwing! Nightwing! Please! Wake up Nightwing. Please wake up!" she shook his shoulders. "Wake up! Please!" she gasped and stared at her friend's body in disbelief.

That was it.

She did not say goodbye to him. She stayed by his lifeless side for what seemed like hours before she was able to rip herself off the ground. She didn't run or walk or move at all. Her eyes fluttered pass the rubble and the fires, on the lifeless faces of her friends.

Those are my friends. Those are the people I love. Her mind repeated again and again.

"They're not moving." She muttered. "They're not moving."

Perhaps, if she stood long enough, it would them who started to move, but they remained as still as she did.

It struck her. Racking through her body in a single, sudden, wave of grief.

Oh god. What had she done? If she would have just closed the stupid gate, they would all be alive. If she didn't wait for Conner like he said too…

No! She had to wait, but if she had closed it… Connor would have been dead, and everyone else alive.

But now they were all dead.

And it was all her fault.

She knelt down in pure grief. She didn't move when they shouted. She didn't move, even when she felt the sharp prick of something in her chest.

As she slowly faded away, all she managed to think was,

It's my fault.
