The Moon and Sun
He was the moon
To her sun
But who could frame the memories?
It was unbearable, the blame
After all, he was the sole survivor
So why should he hope?
He wanted to aid her, even hoped
But the recollections, drenched with moonlight
Turned on him, intent on not letting him survive
No matter how the sunlight
That weight on his shoulders, the blame
He, victim appointed by his memories
His waking dreams haunted by memories
But she was his saving grace, his hope
Of redemption, removal of blame
Like light fills the dark, like moonbeams
Or the warmth removes the biting cold, like sunlight
Perhaps he would survive
He would make sure she survived
Even with these choking memories
The rays may continue to come from the sun
The chance might come back, the hope
Even if an eclipse hides the moon
She would know, finally, who was to blame
Why would he put this upon himself, the choking blame?
She would know and survive
This monster born of the moon
He would hunt down these demons, these memories
And he would dare to hope
And that maybe he was worthy of the sunlight
Again, the land would be sunbathed
The weight would lift. He, unblamed!
He will be able to hope
This fight was over, they had survived
And he would be glad when these fading memories
Finally did, like the last of the moonlight
Even if the moon and sun were opposites
And these memories blamed him
He would survive, and continue to hope
