Never Hers

No one ever thought they'd end up together, ever. Sure they had been best friends for years, but when it came down to it everyone had their money on Jason and Hazel. Hazel was a perfect daughter of Venus, with her short dark hair and eyes that changed colors like a kaleidoscope. Not to mention the way she handled a spear. She may have always had to look perfect (it was a Venus thing) but if you couldn't use a weapon at the roman camp you didn't last.

Truthfully Reyna never thought they'd end up together either, he was to perfect for her taste. Plus she'd known Hazel science she was nine and she may not be a daughter of Minerva but she wasn't dumb enough to cross a daughter of Venus when it came to love. So Hazel was killed by a titian a year before the big battle both Jason and herself were devastated. They didn't plan to slowly fall for each other -no matter what the Venus cabin has to say about it-they just did.

Then as Jason led the Romans into battle, he kissed her. It was spontaneous, passionate, reckless, and made her tingle down to her toes. Then being the brave son of Jupiter he is, he ran off into battle without another word. It was agonizing for Reyna, not knowing what would happen to him and being forced to kick monster but under the death glares the children of Venus were sending her way.

So when the battle was over and the half blood had won, she set off to find Jason. He was lying in the ashes with soot streaked across his face and resting in his honey colored hair. He may have been smoking (literally) but he was alive, and smiling. Reyna did the only respectable thing she could think of, she marched over to him and slapped him. Then she threw her arms around him and kissed him as he spun her around in circles laughing.

And they lived happily ever after.

Until he went missing. For six months she, along with the rest of the camp, searched everywhere for their missing war hero. He could have been dead for all they knew. And what does he do next? He shows up on their doorstep holding the hand of a girl that could have been Hazel's twin sister, no was Hazel's sister. And he can't even remember her, or what they had.

Soon enough he's off to save the world, again and Reyna is left alone, again. After all no one ever thought they'd end up together.
