My earliest memory is when big sister and I crossed the Border into Aztlan.
Big sister held me close to her chest and all I could hear was the sound of her heart pounding. It was soothing in a way. Big sister kept telling me, "Just a little farther, Juana." over and over, but it sounded more like she was trying to convince herself than me.
At the age of four I couldn't really register what was really happening, except that big sister was upset.
I tried to comfort her by asking, "What's wrong? Por favor, no llores. Lo siento."
That only made it worse though.
I always made everything worse… and that's why we had to leave behind our home and cross the Border.
Because of what I did…
A/N: I decided to do a House of Scorpion FF because I didn't see any others on here. So, Juana is my OC and her sister, Simona, is my friend's OC. It kind of ends to quickly because I was trying to wrap it up and I didn't want the story to sound repetitive when I have to go over this scene again in later chapters.
