Disclaimer: I do not own Gone With The Wind, and at the current moment I'm not sure if I will be creating any new characters. If I do, you should be able to figure out who I do and do not own.

Author's Note: Reviews=happy author. Happy author=less waiting for updates XD (this fanfic is set in year 2009) Also, this prologue is kind of like a summary, but still a prologue. Please review

Prologue: Making a Name

First name: Katie. Middle name: Scarlett. That's what people called her, Scarlett. The name Katie was, as she put it, 'so out.' But neither of those names mattered. The only name that mattered, was her last name.

O'Hara.

Yes, O'Hara, as in the famous designers, Ellen and Gerald O'Hara.

That's what she was known for. Being the daughter of the designers of the most successful fashion line in America. Clothes, purses, jewelry, they designed everything! Anything with the O'Hara's name on it flew off the shelves quicker than it had hit the shelves.

But what most people didn't recognize was that Scarlett was independent. She didn't rely on her parents' money (although it did come in handy at times). Scarlett had her own fortune. She was the chief shoe designer at O'Hara, and had even been featured in a few films. Scarlett was making a name for herself, and feeling pretty damn good about it.

"O'Hara's the name," she often said to herself, "And I'm on top of my game."

Indeed she was. She had enough money to wrap around the Earth seven times, and still have some leftover. Pretty good for a college graduate, right?

In Scarlett's mind, she had everything. She was the, self-proclaimed 'definition of and American Princess'. Her younger sister, Suellen, begged to differ.

"You're not even American," she would argue, "You're French and Irish."

"I was born here," Scarlett would point out, "I'm an American."

And not just any kind of American. She was a Southern belle, a Georgian. She loved Georgia more than anything in the world, and who wouldn't? No other state had Georgia's flair, Georgia's....'it factor'. Georgia was one of a kind. No other state could compete.

And Scarlett made sure to tell that to all her friends, very often.

***

Rhett Butler. Everyone around town knew that name, but sometimes it wasn't such a good thing.

He too was making a name for himself, in more ways than one.

He was rich. Filthy rich. No one knew exactly what he did to get all that money, but they had reason to believe it was legal.

He was good looking, the finest man in all of Atlanta some said. But he was also scandalous. He refused to settle down with a woman, nor does he allow a woman to fall in love with him. And just to make sure that doesn't happen, he stops at the corners whenever he needs a "fix."

But Miss O'Hara just might be the one to make him settle down.....
